Prior to starting his own practice, Robert worked as a litigation associate after law school at a small plaintiffs injury law firm in Chicago. He earned his J.D. in 2005 from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. He received his bachelors of science degree in 2002 from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign where he studied cell and structural biology.
